    Default Shoot Thru Hull Transducer

I have an RG2100. Does anyone know if the hull in the stern of the boat, the area right in front of the hull plug is single thickness fiberglass or how it is layed up at this exact location?

I want to epoxy a shoot thru hull transducer at this location but they said it will not work if the hull is too thick.

The unit is a Humminbird 797 c2 si.

Not sure about a Chaser but when I was wanting to use one on my DLX I was told you could not use a shoot thru on any C.S. Not so much on the thickness but it was something about C.S. being a "cored" hull, meaning foam filled. Sorry, maybe some experts will chime in with more knowledge than me.

You cannot do it.First, the hull is too thick there(you can tell when remove the drain plug) and second there is foam between there too.

You can do it. I did it in that spot on my 175 RG. The Sea Chaser RG series does not have foam in that spot. That is the one spot that is solid fiberglass. The thickness of the fiberglass is not too thick either. I know this from experience, I installed my fishfinder transducer there and it worked flawlessly for over a year. I decided to move it to the transom to take advantage of the water temp feature of the transducer, but the performance for a shoot through hull installation on the RG Series right in front of that drain plug is very good.

The belge area just infront of the center transom drain on a DLV Elite does not have foam in it. It's solid resin about three/four inches thick with very little if any fiber mixed in with it. Don't ask me how I know this, but trust me I do. I don't know how thick it can be and still work but would be interested in your result if you choose to try it.
